SLC Scoop is just like The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City: salty and sweet!
Van Leeuwen, known for its unique flavors, debuted the limited-edition flavor on Nov. 19 with the help of stars Angie Katsanevas, Mary Cosby and Bronwyn Newport.
The Rockefeller Center location was transformed with fake snow, glittering snowflakes and RHOSLC quotes while inviting VIP guests and the media to taste the ice cream. It featured a sign emblazoned with an adaptation of Heather Gay’s iconic quote from season four: “Calculate. Shovels. Timelines. Screenshots.”
PEOPLE were present at the event and tasted the taste.
SLC Scoop is purple-lavender ice cream with pieces of salted caramel.
“We are excited about the cooperation The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City to create a flavor that reflects the fun nature of the show,” co-founder and CEO Ben Van Leeuwen shared in a statement. “We can’t wait for fans to try this limited-edition ice cream that combines ingredients as dynamic and memorable as the show itself!”

The three housewives at the event liked the taste.
Cosby, who said she doesn’t eat sugar but would “secretly” enjoy ice cream, tells PEOPLE that the flavor accurately represented the cast of the reality show. “(Salted) Lavender Caramel Ice just works for Salt Lake City housewives because that’s who we are—salty and sweet, but there’s still a lavender side to it,” she says
Katsanevas says her favorite ice cream flavor is bubblegum, but she was excited to venture into a more sophisticated flavor. “I’ve never been a salty ice cream girl, but this one with caramel looks sweet and salty, so it’s perfect.”
Although Bronwyn Newport liked the amount of salt and the lavender flavor in the treat, she acknowledged one difference between it and ice cream. “I think it might be a little bit saltier if he was playing me, but as an average of the cast, it’s pretty salty,” she says.
So how does the ice cream stack up to the average taster?
It is sweet, with a base of vanilla flavor. The lavender comes in at the end, but it’s subtle enough for someone who doesn’t normally enjoy florals (like this taste tester). Those salt and caramel flavors add a new dimension, although a little more salty caramel bits would have made everything better.
However, the consistency is creamy, and the ice cream does not melt too quickly. In addition, the beautiful lavender color adds to the experience. Anything and everything, an ice cream that lives up to its name.
