Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie reflect on their iconic style.
Ahead of the long-awaited return of their reality show A simple lifethe duo talked with Glamour about their influence on fashion in the early 2000s.
In response, Richie, 43, said the recent revival of Y2K trends was “very funny and cute”.
“I don’t necessarily connect with all the interpretations of Y2K, which I’m sure people in the ’70s were thinking when we decided to love the ’70s,” she continued in an interview published on Dec. 5. “But yeah, as for Juicy’s sweatpants and trucker hats and everything, yeah, it’s really cute.”
Hilton, 43, said she still has many items from her wardrobe, including her 21st birthday dress. “Which is iconic,” the star said.

Over the years, Hilton has recreated her iconic 21st birthday look multiple times, most recently reinventing the sparkly silver minidress she originally wore in 2002 last year.

Talking to GlamourHilton and Richie also spoke about the “traumatizing” tabloid attention they received in the early 2000s.
There would be many nights when I would cry and call my mom, Hilton said. “But it also made me so strong that, after a while, I just realized that these are people who don’t even know me, they’re just making up stories.”
Richie added that the criticism “took a harder toll on me than I could even admit to myself at this point.”
“But looking back, I see how much of an effect it had on my daily life and my daily choices,” she added.
