Vanessa Hudgens Says She Nearly Fainted While Touring Her Wedding Venue in the Mexican Jungle

Vanessa Hudgens fell in love with her wedding venue — but it came with a few challenges.

For one, the actress – who married baseball player Cole Tucker on Saturday – said she almost passed out when she first toured the venue in Tulum, Mexico. In an interview with VogueHudgens (34) shared that she decided to organize her wedding at the Azulik Hotel, which she had been eyeing for a long time on Instagram.

“I said to Cole, ‘Maybe we could go here on our honeymoon…we’d get such great pictures. Wait — maybe we could get married here?!'” she recalled to the outlet.

Wanting to check out the hotel in person, she managed to squeeze in a trip to Tulum in the middle of filming the latest Bad boys movie. “I thought, ‘You know what, even if it’s not that hotel, I’m sure I’ll find another hotel that might work,'” she explained. “I also knew I wanted to get married somewhere warm. I was like, ‘Mexico is it!'”

Hudgens also noted that she was looking for a place that was “very spiritual” and surrounded by nature. When she arrived at the hotel, she took a long tour, and while she was eager to see the sprawling property, she began to feel a little sick. “I was so hot and I felt like I was going to pass out,” she recalled.

However, that was only the first part.

“At the end of this very long tour, I asked myself, ‘Where should we have our ceremony?’ and they said, ‘Oh, that would be in our museum [the Azulik City of Arts],’ and they said, ‘It’s 45 minutes in the jungle.’ “I thought, ‘Okay, that sounds aggressive, but I guess I’ll try,'” she continued.

As she traveled deep into the jungle—much of it “down an unpaved dirt road”—she began to have serious doubts. “I kept thinking, ‘There’s no way in hell we can have our wedding here — how are we going to get our whole party down this bumpy dirt road?’ ” she said.

Everything changed the moment she saw the museum. “I knew it was our place,” she recalled. “I felt as if I had been transported to a kind of utopia, unlike anything I had ever been before. It was weird and magical, and I just fell in love.”

Hudgens and Tucker, 27, exchanged handwritten vows in an outdoor ceremony at the museum, which she described as Vogue as “one of the most emotional moments of my life”.

“I literally fell over when I saw Cole and I had to take a deep breath and I had to force myself to keep walking because I could have fallen to the floor,” she said of her groom, who plays for the Albuquerque Isotopes.

Looking back on the wedding, Hudgens said she still basks in the glow of the moment. “It was truly the most magical weekend of my life,” she told the magazine. “Literally talking about it now brings tears to my eyes. I couldn’t have dreamed it would get any better. I knew it would be magical, but it exceeded my expectations.”
