- In 2018, she and her father Vijayakumar were involved in a legal dispute over family property issues. According to Vanessa, she has been living in her mother’s house since her mother’s death and her father asked her to move out of the house. Her father even stopped her from shooting and forced her to leave the house. Vijaykumar filed a complaint at the Maduravoyal local police station accusing her of not vacating the house he claimed was his. Vanessa later claimed that she and her crew were beaten and kicked out of their home by police.
- In 2017, there were reports that her daughter Jaynitha had been kidnapped by her. After Vanitha and her second husband Rajan Anand divorced, they decided that their daughter Jaynitha would live with her father Monday to Friday and with her on the weekends Live together. But in the first week of April 2017, Vanessa and her daughter did not come back for a whole week. Later, she was sued, but even though the court gave her a deadline, she still did not return the child. After some debate, the court gave full custody of Jenisha to her father.

- In 2010, Vanessa filed a lawsuit against her father, mother and brother, accusing them of beating her when she tried to take her children home. Her children have reportedly gone to her parents’ house to celebrate Diwali. Her father was drunk and would not let her children come home, and when she tried to do so, her brother attacked her and her husband.
