His swimming career began at school, where he participated in school swimming competitions. He then became interested in swimming and joined the Goregaon Sports Club in Mumbai to learn swimming from professionals. There he competed with many national level swimmers including Kapil Shetty. In 2017, he joined Glenmark Aquatics Foundation in Mumbai for further training in swimming. He then attended a 30-day training camp in Bengaluru to prepare for the swimming competition. Subsequently, he started participating in various swimming competitions such as the 3rd SFI All India National Club Championships (2018), the 64th National Secondary School Games (2018), the 36th Glenmark Youth and the 46th National Youth Swimming Championships ( 2019), the 10th Asian Age Group Championships (2019) and the Khelo India Youth Games (2020).
Vedaant Madhavan won GMAAA Gold Medal (2018)
He won many medals and trophies in swimming competitions. In 2021, he won 7 medals, including 4 silver medals and 3 bronze medals, at the 47th National Youth Swimming Championships 2021 in Bangalore. During the competition, he represented Maharashtra in swimming events such as 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle, 4×100m freestyle relay, and 4×200m freestyle relay. His father shared the news of his son’s win via an Instagram post.
In April 2023, he participated in the 58th MILO/MAS Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships and won 5 gold medals (50m, 100m, 200m, 400m and 1500m).

- In an interview, he revealed that he is an eggist. He further said,
My father is a vegetarian, as are my grandparents. I’m an egg lover. I eat a lot of eggs for protein, about 12 eggs a day. Plus, I eat a lot of carbs and protein shakes. So my diet was basically more carbs. In the morning I have an egg sandwich and a glass of juice. I had a lot of rice for lunch, along with spinach and lentils. And eggs, obviously. Then in the evening, I’ll have a paratha with eggs or another egg sandwich. “
