Vedika murder case
On June 16, 2023, Vedika was shot and seriously injured by Priyansh Vishwakarma at her office in Dhanvantari Nagar. Instead of seeking immediate medical help, Priyansh drove with Vedika for about four hours. Eventually, he took her to Smart City Hospital but later fled the hospital with the gun used in the shooting and CCTV footage of his office. Later, Priyansh contacted Vedika’s brother and informed him about the incident. On June 18, 2023, a video showed Vaidika receiving treatment in the hospital. In the video, she confirmed that Priyansh shot her.

Priyansh was arrested by the police on June 19, 2023, from Narsinghpur district. After his arrest, he admitted to shooting Vedika. He arrived at Dhanwantri Nagar police station in a black Scorpio car decorated with the BJP flag. Initially, the police did not register a case within 24 hours, but eventually a case was registered against Priyansh at the Sanjivani Nagar police station after Vedika’s relatives expressed concerns over police inaction. The charges leveled against him include IPC Section 308 (manslaughter not amounting to murder) and Sections 25 and 26 of the Arms Act.

Vedika’s uncle, Ashok Thakur, said initially, her condition improved. Unfortunately, her health deteriorated due to the bullet lodged in her back, causing infections throughout her body. She underwent stomach surgery but her condition continued to deteriorate. As a result, she was put on a ventilator on June 24, 2023. Her organs began to fail, and at approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 26, 2023, doctors declared her dead. Doctors explained that Vedika’s organs were failing and even a week after the incident, they were unable to remove the bullet from her spinal cord.

After Vedika’s tragic death, the police upgraded the charges against Priyansh to murder. They have also sent the bullet recovered from Vedika’s body to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis and investigation.
After Priyansh Vishwakarma was arrested by police
Reacting to the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party issued an official statement denying that Priyansh had any connection or affiliation with its party. Prabhat Sahu, president of the Jabalpur Bharatiya Janata Party, issued a press release saying,
Priyansh Vishwakarma, a resident of Ganganagar and a suspect in the recent sackings, does not hold any position in the BJP. “
