Vicky Myers News
Vicky, from Thornaby, North Yorkshire, did everything in her power in the months leading up to his death to make memories with her son William, whose father John died in 2015. Vicky had taken her son on several family holidays, including a caravan trip , throughout the previous year.
Vicky’s best friend, Lorraine Mulgrew, revealed in an interview with The Mirror that Vicky’s “biggest concern” was leaving William without a father and that she was “putting up as much as she could”. Last February, Vicky received the bad news that her breast cancer had spread to all parts of her body and she only had three months to live.
According to Lorraine, “she put up with as much as she could to do as much as possible for William.” I have never met anyone braver than her. All she endured was for William.” The boy’s father, a musician, died in 2015 at the age of just 32.
Vicky found a lump in one of her breasts two years after her husband’s untimely death. Her scans were clear after numerous grueling rounds of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
However, Vicky began experiencing symptoms in late 2019 and was told in February 2020 that she had terminal cancer after scans revealed tumors on her liver and rib cage. Her father, Jeff, died a few days after being diagnosed as a result of ongoing health problems.
Vicky did an “incredible job” preparing William for what was to come, according to Lorraine. She experienced grief for her children when her husband died, so she was ready. She told him the truth – said Lorraine.
She’d reply, “William, I’m not going to get any better this time. The doctors are doing everything they can to make him comfortable, but I’m not going to get better,” as she said, “When you’re better, Mom, we’ll do things.”
He did a fantastic job, but no amount of good work can prepare you for losing a parent, especially a mother so young. Many charities, including Butterwick Hospice and the Solan Connor Fawcett Family Cancer Foundation, will help with Vicky’s funeral on January 29.
According to the JustGiving page, Vicky Myers, the bravest person I have ever known, died of a battle with cancer on January 11, 2021, at the age of 35.
“He fought valiantly to the end and left a bewildered family and friends behind. He did his best to spend as much time as possible with his eight-year-old son William until he could no longer fight. He devoted himself completely to him.
