Clarence George Carter was born on January 14, 1936 in Montgomery, Alabama, United States. He is currently 88 years old and belongs to the Capricorn zodiac sign. He hid his family history, and the names of his parents and siblings remained unknown. He went to Alabama school because he was born blind. He later went to Alabama State College to enroll. He graduated in music at the university in August 1960.

Career of Clarence Carter
Clarence Carter’s professional music career began when he met Calvin Scott, a friend. As Clarence & Calvin, they sang on the Fairlane label to release “I Wanna Dance But I Don’t Know How”. After the release of I Don’t Know in 1962, the two joined Duke Records. As a result, they rebranded as C & C Boys and signed to a record label, releasing four singles.
At Rick Hall’s FAME studio in Muscle Shoals, the duo recorded the song “Step by Step” in 1965. As a result, it was released on Atco, which is owned by Atlantic Records, although it failed to chart.
In Birmingham, Alabama, the duo regularly performed in bars in 1966. Scott was later seriously injured in a car accident. Carter also continued to record on the Fame label as a solo artist. In 1967, he released the song “Tell Daddy”, which reached number 35 on the Billboard R&B chart. Carter is also credited as the writer of Etta James’ response album, Tell Mama. He then moved to Atlantic Records in late 1967.
Then, starting with “Slip Away,” he launched a string of R&B and mainstream smash hits. As a result, it has been called “a superior ballad about infidelity that accentuates its pain”. The Recording Industry Association of America certified his singles as gold before he signed with Atlantic.
