Vijay Antony is an Indian music composer, lyricist, playback singer, film editor, audio engineer and actor. He mainly works in Tamil film industry. His song Naaka Mukka was performed during the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

Vijay Antony was born Frances Antony Cyril Raja on Thursday, July 24, 1975, in Nagaikoi, Konyakumari district, Tamil Nadu Er (48 years old; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Leo. He studied at Campion Anglo-Indian High School in Tiruchirappalli. He also holds a science degree from St. Xavier’s College, Trichy. Additionally, he completed a course in Visual Communication from Loyola College, Nagaikkoil, Tamil Nadu. He also took correspondence courses at Trinity College, London. After graduating from Loyola College, he founded a studio called Audiophiles, where he began his sound engineering career.

Vijay Antony was born in a Christian family in Konyakumari. Vijay lived in Trichy till the age of ten, after which he and his mother moved to Tirunelveli where he spent ten years before finally moving to Chennai.
Parents and siblings
Vijay’s father died when he was 7 years old and he was raised by his mother, who worked in the government, to support both of them. Vijay’s mother is a clerk in the city planning office. Vijay Antony said his mother’s meager salary was barely enough for basic living and they had a hard time growing up.

Vijay is married to producer Fatima Vijay Antony. They married in 2006 and later had two daughters: Meera Vijay Antony and Laara Vijay Antony. On September 19, 2023, Meera hanged herself at her residence in Chennai; she was rushed to the nearest hospital; however, doctors at the hospital declared her dead. Vijay attributes his success to his wife’s support and management. She produces Vijay’s films through Vijay Antony Films. They live in Chennai.

Controversy surrounding the film Saitan (2016)
While Vijay Antony’s personal life is not controversial, his film Saithan (2016) faced strong opposition from religious groups. The trailer of Saitan was mostly well received after its release, but the background music used in the trailer offended certain Hindu religious groups. They said it sounded like a Sanskrit chant calling for action. Vijay Antony listened to their concerns, removed the music and deleted the trailer of the version. Speaking about it in an interview, he said:
I heard that in the trailer of Saithan, a few lines written by late lyricist Annamalai sounded like Sanskrit verses and hurt some people. At their request, I decided to withdraw these lines immediately. Therefore, you won’t find Saithan’s trailer on my Facebook, YouTube or Twitter pages. “

- When Frances Antony Cyril Raja entered the Tamil film industry, he changed his name to Agni. However, actor, producer and director SA Chandrasekhar felt that the name “Agni” was not “lucky” and suggested that he use the name of his son Vijay (one of the most popular actors in the Tamil film industry), hence the name Vijay Anthony is born.
