The first tournament of slum football was held in Nagpur with 128 teams participating. In 2003, he organized the first Chhopapati Football Championship, a state-level event, in Nagpur. A total of 15 districts of Maharashtra, including the tribal belt of Gadri Koli (who later became the champion), participated in the event. In the same year, the All India Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Choupapati Football Championship (national level) was held in Nagpur, with 12 Indian states participating (Odisha won the inaugural tournament). - In 2006, Vijay Barse’s son Abhijit came to India from the United States to help his father continue his mission of advancing the lives and rehabilitation of slum dwellers and socially disadvantaged children. The following year, Abhijit became the CEO of Slum Football.
