Vijaya Nirmala is an Indian actress, director and producer who works primarily in the South Indian film industry. She died of a heart attack in Hyderabad, India, at the age of 73.

Information about her parents and siblings is unknown. Her father is a film producer. She is married. First there is Krishna Murthy. However, she divorced actor Krishna Ghattamaneni after having an affair with him. Later, she married Krishna Gatamaneni.
She has a son named Vijaya Naresh with her ex-husband.
Her grandson Naveen Vijaya Krishna is also an actor.
She is the stepmother of actors Ramesh Babu, Mahesh Babu and actor Manjula.
Profession
In 1950, when she was only four years old, she appeared as a child artist in a Tamil film, Machcha Rekhai. She made her debut in the Telugu film industry in 1957 with the film Panduranga Mahatyam.
Nirmala made her Malayalam film debut in 1964 with the film Bhargavi Nilayam. She made her mainstream film debut with the 1965 Tamil film Enga Veetu Penn. In addition to acting, she is also a director. She made her directorial debut with the 1971 Telugu film “Meena”. In 1973, she directed the first Malayalam film “Kavitha”.
She also starred in several other films including Bhargavi Nilayam (1964), Manchi Kutumbam (1965), Chitthi (1966), Nishagandhi (1970), Alluri Seetarama Raju (1974), Hema Hemeelu (1979), among others. The female director with the highest number of films in the world, including “Devadasu” (1974), “Panchyathi” (1977), “Hema Hemeelu” (1979), “Bezawada Bebbuli” (1983), “Mogudu Pellala Dongaata” (1992), “Neramu Siksha” (2009) and others.

- She rose to fame with the Malayalam hit song “Bhargavi Nilayam” (1964), in which she starred opposite Prem Nazir.
- Nirmala met her second husband Krishna Ghattamaneni in 1967 on the sets of “Saakshi”. This is her second Telugu film. Since then, they have collaborated on 47 films together.
- She has her own production company, Vijaya Krishna Movies, and has produced 15 films.
- “Vijaya” is not her real name. After 1965, she paid homage to the famous Vijaya Film Studio, which offered her her first starring role and named herself Vijaya Nirmala.
