Shraddha Murder Case
According to reports, Shraddha Vikas Walker met Aftab Poonawala through dating app ‘Bumble’ in Mumbai in 2018 while she was working in an IT call center. According to sources, Aftab was a food blogger who was working as a graphic designer at the time. He met Shraddha online. Soon, the two fall in love and plan to be together.

According to reports, Shraddha and Aftab often quarreled after moving to Delhi and Shraddha allegedly forced him to marry her. There are reports that the couple decided to start over with a trip to the mountains in March and April. On May 18, 2022, after allegedly being pressured by Shraddha to marry, Aftab strangled Shraddha to death and chopped her body into 35 pieces, which were kept in a 300-litre refrigerator in his rented apartment in Delhi. Eighteen days; at midnight, he disposed of Shraddha’s body fragments in rows inside and outside the city. Some sources claim that Shraddha and Aftab often argued over household items and daily expenses.

According to some media reports, Aftab watched many crime movies and web series to carry out the murders. Aftab’s plan reportedly originated from the US crime network series “Dexter”, which follows the life of a man who commits crimes at night and solves crimes by day. According to Delhi Police sources, Aftab chopped up Shraddha’s body with a mini saw and threw her clothes into a garbage truck. To avoid suspicion, Aftab used Shraddha’s social media and paid her credit card bills until June 2022.
Tracking and arrest of Aftab Poonawala
According to reports, in September 2022, a friend of Shraddha told Vikash Walker that she had not been in contact with his daughter for nearly 2.5 months, following which Vikash reported to a resident of Vasai, Maharashtra on October 12, 2022. A missing report was filed at the Manickpur police station; however, based on Shraddha’s last location, the case was transferred to the Mehrauli police station in New Delhi.

Vikash suspects Aftab’s involvement in his daughter’s disappearance. According to sources, Aftab was summoned for questioning by the Mumbai police on November 3, 2022, and he stated that Shraddha left the house in May after a fight. Aftab was arrested on November 11, 2022, from his house in Chhatarpur under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of crime).

South Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Chauhan told the media in an interview that Aftab admitted his crime and said that he disposed of Shraddha’s body in a forest area near Chhatarpur Enclave. Ankit Chauhan said,
The accused told us that he chopped her body into pieces and dumped it in a forest area near Chhatarpur enclave. He has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing. ”

Investigation revealed that Shraddha had complained to the police in Maharashtra’s Vasai Tiruni, saying she was worried that she would be cut into pieces by Aftab. She reportedly wrote a letter to complain to the police on November 23, 2020, after Aftab assaulted her in the apartment they shared. She wrote,
Today he tried to suffocate me, he scared me, blackmailed me, said he would kill me, cut me into pieces and throw me away. He had been beating me for six months but I didn’t have the courage to go to the police because he would threaten to kill me. “
