Jack learns that Brady is dealing with Melissa

The final episode of season five opened with a very shocked looking Jack discovering that Brady was in his trailer. Jack assumed that Brady was selling drugs, but Brady desperately tried to explain that he was actually working with Mike to take down Melissa, the leader of a major drug smuggling operation in the middle of the Virgin River.

A chase and back-and-forth shooting ensued, and then Mike was shot in the chest and rushed to the hospital. After losing a lot of blood, the detective was ready, but luckily he got away.

Cameron and Muriel get the go-ahead from Doc

After a rather awkward conversation, Muriel and Cameron are officially given the green light by Doc to continue their romantic relationship. We have to admit, we didn’t see this plot coming!

Doc says that clinical trials

Earlier in series five, Doc had a moment of panic when he realized he couldn’t see while operating. This inspired our favorite doctor to pursue the clinical trials he was offered to hopefully cure his condition. Despite the high risk of vision loss, he is enrolled with Hope’s approval – ever the optimist our doctor is!

Lizzie and Denny face a major plot twist

Young love! Lizzie and Denny are our new favorite ship and the sweet couple has been through a lot in season five. After a terrifying ordeal trying to escape a fire and overcoming Denny’s terminal illness, Lizzie drops a bomb at the end of the season saying she thinks she’s pregnant. Alas!

To make matters more complicated, Denny has been considering returning to Stanford College to study…it seems like the couple are in for some major life adjustments.

Who will Brie choose?

Season 5 saw Brie come to the end of her relationship with Brady, and honestly, we don’t blame her because the former soldier lied to her about his undercover drug operation and is generally a loose cannon. The couple broke up, much to Brady’s dismay, and Brie began to see Mike as a potential romantic interest.

Mel and Jack are turning over a new leaf

The devastating fire meant that Ava’s farm was burnt to the ground. But in typical Virgin River style, Mel finds the positive in the negative. Mel takes Jack to the swing that survived the fire and suggests they buy the land from Ava so she and Jack can build their dream family home and “fill it with kids”. We don’t cry, you cry.

The preacher has trouble on the horizon

Oh, God. Just as Preacher begins to see light in her life in the form of firefighter Kaia, things take a dark turn when her new boss tells her that a body has been discovered in the woods.

Cue Preacher looking extremely concerned when he realizes it must be the body of Paige’s abusive husband, Wes, who died in season four after falling down the stairs. Although Preacher is not responsible for his death, he hid the body to protect Paige, so he could find himself in very hot water…

Charmaine comes face to face with the twins’ dad

The moment we’ve all been waiting for finally arrived at the end of season five, but we have to admit, we were pretty confused. Calvin? Really? The criminal approached Charmaine and told her that he wanted to be present in his boys’ lives, putting to bed the old question of who the mystery father is in bed. We can’t wait to see where this goes…

What does the Virgin River season five finale mean for part two?

The finale of the fifth season sets up many possibilities for the second part. Mel has discovered that her mother is potentially having an affair with someone who lives in Virgin River, which means that her real father could be living in the same small town. But who will it be? Fans have some theories.

Judging by the trailer, the second part will be full of moments that will answer some questions. Charmaine gives birth, Mel finds out who her daddy is, and Lizzie comes to terms with becoming a mother. What’s more, the trailer looks like Preacher might confide in Kaia about his big secret. Just give.
