Vishwas Savarkar (1928-2010) was an Indian writer and the son of Indian freedom fighter and revolutionary Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. He died in Mumbai in 2010.

Parents and siblings
His father Vinayak Damodar Savarkar (popularly known as Veer Savarkar) was an Indian revolutionary freedom fighter. He was also an accomplished politician and author. He was a pioneer of the political ideology “Hinduism” which he developed while incarcerated in Ratnagiri Jail in Maharashtra in 1922. He is one of the important leaders of the Hindu Mahasabha. Savarkar died in 1966.
His mother Yamunabai Savarkar was a member of the Atmanishtha Yuvati Samaj, an organization founded by Vinayak Savarkar’s sister-in-law to instill a spirit of nationalism in its members . Yamunabai died in 1962. His elder brother Prabhakar died in infancy. He had two sisters: Prabhat Chiplunkar and Shalini, both of whom are deceased.

- Vishwas had requested the Indian government to grant Veer Savarkar the heritage title of Savarkar Sadan, his ancestral home, which was conferred by the Indian government in September 2010, a week before his death.
- In 2003, Vishwas lashed out at Sonia Gandhi after the Indian National Congress (INC) raised a question in Parliament on whether Veer Savarkar had requested the British government to pardon him and grant him freedom. He said in an interview,
Congress president Sonia Gandhi is Italian and knows little about India. To this day, I don’t know if she is an Indian citizen.She didn’t know about Savarkar’s sacrifice and that’s why she objected [the installation of the portrait]. Congress is blindly following her lead. She came to India after marrying Rajiv Gandhi. Of course she doesn’t know the history of India. ”
