Vivek Oberoi was born on September 3, 1976 in Hyderabad, India (age 42 in 2018). He was born Vivek Anand, named after the Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda. When he joined the film industry, he shortened his name to Vivek as he thought it would be an insult to a monk to romance and dance with this name on screen. He received his education at Hyderabad Public School, Hyderabad and then went to Mayo College, Ajmer, Rajasthan to complete his further education. Vivek was an outstanding athlete during his school days. He has played various sports including hockey, table tennis, cricket and football. He was even a member of the school’s hockey team and competed at the state and national level.
After completing her studies, Vivek moved to London to attend acting workshops. The president of New York University discovered him and took Vivek to New York. Vivek earned a master’s degree in acting from New York University.
