The news of his death was confirmed by his father on Twitter that his son had passed away. He underwent gastric bypass surgery and after some time was transferred to intensive care at Saint Joseph Hospital in Dora, Lebanon, where he died.
His death caused a sensation on social networks.
His funeral will be held at the Church of Saint Nicholas of the Greek Orthodox Church in Achrafieh, a suburb of Beirut, on the morning of January 8, 2023. His father, George, announced his funeral service on his Facebook profile,
“His body will then be transferred to his home town of Kfarum, where a censing prayer will be held for his consolation at five o’clock in the afternoon at the Meter Elias Church; Kafroun, then he will be buried in the family cemetery.”
Lebanese superstar Nancy Ajram wrote on Twitter,
“I can’t believe it. Death is so hard!! My heart goes out to dear and beloved Abu Wadih. May God give you and your family patience. What a loss. Wadih was a young man whose life was worthy of world attention.”
Fellow Lebanese singer Elissa added,
“my heart is with you, Abu Wadih… May God give you strength”.

The Lebanese producer, singer and director said,
“What heartbreaking news. May God have mercy on your dear soul, Wadih. May God grant patience to your father, who is very close to my heart, to everyone, to your mother Shalimar, to your family and to your loved ones.”
Lebanese singer Najwa Karam wrote,
“May God have mercy. Give patience to the heart of Abu Wadih and Umm Wadih.”
The Egyptian singer Angham wrote,
“There is no power or strength except with God. My sincere condolences on the death of Wadih George Wassouf. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
