Waseem Abbas made his debut as an actor in 1979 with the PTV TV series “Ek Haqeeqat Ek Fasana”. He is popular for his role as Yasir in the TV series “Samundar” (1983) aired on PTV.
In 1986, he played the role of Zubair in the PTV program “Hazaron Raaste”. In 1997, he appeared in the Pakistani comedy sitcom Home Front, playing the role of Azam. The show aired on PTV World (now PTV News).
He had a supporting role in the comedy series Lahori Gate (2007) starring Naseem Vicky. The show airs on PTV Home. In 2014, he appeared in the television show “Ladoon Mein Palli” aired on Geo TV, along with his real-life son Ali Abbas. His performance as Raees in the TV series “Mere Humsafar” (2021) aired on ARY Digital received huge appreciation from the audience.

He served as director of the TV series “Mr. & Misses’ (2006), airing on PTV Home. In 2007, he wrote the script for the TV series “Lahori Gate”, which was broadcast on PTV Home.
In 2018, he served as the screenwriter of the TV series “Do Biwiyan Ek Bechara”. He has worked as a writer and directed more TV shows like “Double Sawari” (2005), “Choki # 420” (2008) and “Natak Mandi” (2010).

In 1990, he appeared in the film Sarmaya with Sultan Rahi, in which he played the role of Mona. In 2017, he played the role of Jawad Khagga in the movie Punjab Nahi Jaungi. The film is also made in Urdu. Some of his other Punjabi films include “Haq Mehar” (1985), “Jatt Majhay Da” (1988), “Ishq Rog” (1989), “Action” (1991) and “Mera Inteqam” (1992).

Facts / Trivia
- In an interview, he revealed that his father did not want him to become an actor but wanted Wasim Abbas to complete his studies. In the same interview, he revealed that he interrupted his studies for nearly 6 months to convince his father to allow him to enter the entertainment industry. He said,
So when I joined the film industry, he was a bit against it and wanted me to continue my studies. But I was stubborn and even interrupted my studies for six months. “
- He was very naughty when he was little. During the interview, he shared an interesting story from his childhood and revealed that when he was in tenth grade, he once locked a buffalo in the classroom, causing the class to be cancelled.
- Abbas revealed in an interview that when he was in eighth grade, his father decided to enroll him in a military academy, but he was so passionate about becoming an actor that he resorted to burning his hands in order to avoid taking the entrance exam.
- He began his career in the entertainment industry as a crew member for theater productions, doing small jobs such as setting up stages and raising theater curtains.
- In an interview, he talked about how he got his first role in his first stage play and was assigned the job of an assistant. He revealed that Anwar Ali, who was supposed to play the lead role, was absent on the first day of the stage play, so Wasim Abbas took over the role.
