Watch as Eamonn Holmes rants he’s ‘proud to have thrown Phillip Schofield under the bus’ after This Morning scandal

EAMONN Holmes didn’t mince words today as he admitted he was “proud” to throw former This Morning host Phillip Schofield “under the bus”.

The telly, who fronted ITV’s daytime series on Fridays alongside ex-wife Ruth Langsford, 64, aired the split on his GB News programme.

It comes hours before the first episode of Phillip’s return to TV – following an “ill-advised” career-ruining affair – is due to air tonight

TV veteran Phil, 62, swapped ITV for Channel 5 in scenes which will see him stranded on a desert island.

It’s his first return to the small screen after he told how he was “stepping down” from the daily grind on ITV, when his affair with a runner was exposed.

Now Eamonn, 64 – who has long been embroiled in a bitter row with Phil – has hit out on his breakfast show.

He hosted the program with co-host Isabel Webster, who said Phil suggested he had been “thrown under the bus” by his colleagues.

Eamonn quickly interjected: “Well if I’m one of the people who threw him under the bus, I’m very proud to have done it and protected the children.

“Underage people.”

Eamonn then said the case was presented as a “one off situation” and added: “I think he [Phil] is where it deserves to be.”

Isabel read Phil’s statement, which stated that his behavior was not illegal, but that it was reckless.

Eamonn, taking off his glasses, was eager to get stuck in further.

‘Coming out caused me more anxiety than joy,’ says Phillip Schofield

Speaking about Phil, he bluntly said: “This man is addicted to fame.

“Absolutely addicted to fame.”

After the conversation continued, he said: “I know people in lower positions in television and if I thought they were being taken advantage of in that way, then someone needs to stand up and say ‘people like him shouldn’t exist and they should’ not be allowed.” .”

Off-screen, though, Eamonn has also had his fair share of problems lately.

Eamonn and Ruth’s decision to divorce in May stunned fans.

Then they were left in fear for Loose Women presenter Ruth after her ex jetted off to Spain with new girlfriend Katie Alexander for a romantic getaway.

A source close to Phil told us today: “Phil finds it ironic that Eamonn is attacking him and went after him after his affair with a younger man came to light… and now he’s been exposed for having an affair with a younger woman.”

THE TROUBLE OF TELY

It came after Phil himself suggested he had been “thrown under the bus” by his ITV colleagues in a veiled dig at former co-star Holly Willoughby.

We exclusively reported his comments from the new documentary as he discussed how he was forced to leave This Morning after 22 years – and hinted at a lack of support from his long-term friend and co-presenter Holly, 43.

In the segment, he says, “Of course I miss parts of TV. I miss most of it, if I’m honest, I miss most of it.

“But there are parts that I really, really, really don’t miss.

“You learn a lot about people, I don’t miss that.”

He also called out the “three s**ts in showbiz” while talking about the betrayal.
