Water supply will be affected in Delhi
The breach was discovered on Saturday, according to officials, and the cause of the disruption has not yet been determined. Due to a burst water canal in Haryana’s Sonepat, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Saturday announced that parts of North, North West, West and South Delhi as well as Delhi Cantt will have no access to water for two days, Sunday and Monday. The DJB recommended the locals to use water wisely and to reserve a sufficient amount of water for their needs in advance.
“Clean water production from Haiderpur Phase-I, Phase-II, Bawana, Nangloi and Dwarka water treatment plants will be disrupted for the next two days due to breach of Carrier Line Channel (CLC) near Barwasni Selo in Sonepat, Haryana, and less intake of raw water through DSB and CLC. Delhi Jal Board is working to rationalize water supply while continuously reviewing and monitoring the situation. In the meantime, water would be available at reduced pressure until the situation improves or CLC is established, DJB said in a statement. The breach was discovered on Saturday, according to officials, and the cause of the disruption has not yet been determined.
They stated that people can call the central control room on 1916/ 23527679/ 23634469 with any questions, concerns or requests for water tankers. The Haryana government did not respond to our queries about the water canal encroachment, despite our attempts to contact them. The Delhi Economic Survey 2022–23 states that Delhi gets 40.8% of its water from the Yamuna (river canals, CLC and DSB canals), 26.5% from the Ganga and 23.1% from the Bhakra reservoir. Tube wells and wells are used to access the remaining 9.6% of groundwater aquifers. Stay tuned for the latest news.
