We're Still Not Over Jason Kelce's Beret at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Neither Is His Wife Kylie (Exclusive)

Kylie Kelce details what was behind her husband Jason Kelce’s très chic — and viral — Paris 2024 Olympics style moment.

Anyone paying attention to the stars in the stands would have immediately noticed the retired Philadelphia Eagles center, 36, dressed in Team USA gear and a navy wool beret.

While speaking with PEOPLE about her partnership with Dove, Kylie also revealed that Jason is “totally committed” to creating French fashion. “Oh no. He warned me in advance, on the way there. He said, ‘I’m going to get the beret,’ and I said, ‘Great.'”

Jason had a vision and planned to live it. He went to multiple “legitimate” stores in search of an accessory, but had no luck—until Kylie pushed him to go to a tourist gift shop.

“Exactly where we left, right near the Arc de Triomphe. We went to a small gift shop and of course, they had like an entire wall full of berets. He was very pleased to receive it. He told me he doesn’t take it off all the time,” she says. “He was completely committed. He wanted to be as Parisian as he could while cheering [Team] USA.”

He even continued to wear the look in the United States, where it debuted on ESPN NFL CountdownAugust 1st. (At this point, the hat was completely covered by the array of pins he traded with Olympic athletes.)

Jason’s debut comes after he announced in March that he was leaving the Eagles after 13 seasons. When news of his retirement was initially announced during an emotional press conference, Kylie was there to support the football star along with the rest of the Kelce family — including parents Donna and Ed and brother Travis.

Today, he can’t wait to see his partner new heights (look what we did there) in his career.

Kylie Kelce ‘Excited to See Jason Excel in New Position’ Ahead of ESPN Debut (Exclusive)

“Most of all, I’m excited to see Jason excel in his new position,” Kylie told PEOPLE. “I jokingly say that it pains me that he’s good at everything, and I know I’m biased, but I honestly believe he’s good at everything because even if he’s not good at the beginning or the best at the beginning. He’ll work, endlessly and tirelessly until he doesn’t achieve that, so I have full faith that he will tackle his new position and be successful.”
