Wesley Fofana injury update

The recent news comes from Chelsea, where news of Wesley Fofana’s injury hit social media platforms as the star tore his ACL. It was revealed that the Chelsea soccer star has torn his anterior cruciate ligament, and the defender will have to undergo an operation on it. The 22-year-old defender did not travel with the rest of his teammates because they are on a pre-season tour of the United States after which he suffered a knee injury. Fofana was believed to have undergone scans to detect the problem and the results were devastating for the centre-back. Scroll down to the next section for more details.

In recent seasons, Fofana has been very unlucky with injury problems. In the summer of 2021, while playing a friendly match for former club Leicester City against Villarreal, Fofana broke his leg and was out for more than seven months. The French international returned in March 2022 and played the remainder of the season with the Foxes before sealing an €80m move to Chelsea a few months later. However, in his first season at Stamford Bridge, he later suffered more bad luck. Scroll down to learn more about what’s new.

In addition, he suffered a knee injury in October that kept him out for more than two months, then four days after returning to training he had a persistent health problem, which turned out to be an additional 55-day layoff. He, too, was recently involved in a setback with a knee injury, which means he could miss a large part of the 2023-24 season. Chelsea currently have Levi Colwill, Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile in the center of defence. However, Benoit is also recovering from a serious hamstring injury suffered late last term and did not travel with the rest of the squad on the pre-season tour.
