When you think of “talent,” you probably think of something like drawing, being good at math, or running marathons. These are all “hard talents”, i.e. skills that are easy to spot and highlight. On the other hand, “hidden” talents are less obvious and you may not even realize you have them! But that doesn’t mean other people haven’t noticed. There are many hidden talents, and for this quiz we focused on the 6 biggest ones. Here’s what you need to know about each one:
Communicating
Communication is one of the greatest hidden talents, and most people don’t even realize why. So, have you ever felt misunderstood? It’s like no matter how you say something, your message isn’t getting through. You are not alone! Good communicators, however, know exactly what to say so that other people understand them. It also helps them get along well in groups and socialize with others.
Listening
Like communication, listening is one of those skills that many people think is actually a skill, but it sure is! Being able to hear someone speak and read between the lines to understand what they are actually saying or understand what they mean when they don’t say something is a gift. It’s a form of empathy that helps you connect with other people, even when other people have a hard time connecting.
Solving problems
We’re not just talking about puzzles and math problems, they count too! We think of the more subtle things, like how to get everything done on a to-do list in a short amount of time, or how to get a team of people who don’t like each other to agree so that a project runs smoothly. Problem solvers are always looking for ways to make life easier and better and how to make it happen.
Jumping in to help
People with this hidden talent are also called “helpers”. They are always looking for ways to lend a hand and make other people’s lives easier. It can be small things, like giving someone money for a meal, or big things, like letting someone crash on the couch during a difficult time. Rescuers and helpers use their resources and gifts and give those gifts to others.
Fun
Entertainers are not only actors and actresses! They are like the social glue that holds people together. They are usually great conversationalists, have warm and open vibes, and are generally people you want to spend time with. They have that X-factor that makes them interesting, but also friendly and generous.
Creation
Creatives may be the most “obvious” of hidden talents, but that doesn’t make them any less important. They are artists, bakers, cooks, mechanics, engineers, craftsmen. They use their time and abilities to create new things and bring beauty, joy and generally good things into this world.
