The observer “Hero” who survived 67 days at sea surrounded by his family’s bodies is facing prison for the death of his nephew and brother on a trip.
Mihail Pichugin, 45, of Russia, managed to survive for more than two months in the sea of Okhotka in an inflatable navigation of 15 FT after the engine cut.

Pichugin was called a hero in Russia just a few months ago when he was found near death after he ran hundreds of kilometers in the Okhotic Sea.
But now he is facing up to seven years in prison for allegedly causing the death of his brother and nephew on an adventurous journey to watch whales in their natural habitat.
On the ship of his tiny ship when he was found were the bodies of his nephew Ilya, 16, who succumbed to hunger and the boy’s father, Sergei Pichugin, 49.
Family members returned from traveling with whales near the remote islands of Shantar when their engine stopped working 37 miles from the coast.
Ilya “barely ate” and “died of starvation,” according to Mash Media, referring to Michael’s account to its rescuers.
This added: “After that, his father went crazy – Sergei cried, screaming and jumping into the water.
“Mihail pulled him out of the water, warmed him, tried to feed him, but he refused, and after 10 days he also died.”
But now the prosecutors left after Michael, accusing him of violating the rules of marine transportation and consequently provoking two deaths.
Instead of being a witness in the criminal case, the suspect became the alleged non -compliance with the rules.
The survivors survived whales in what seem to be acknowledged: “As a result of my violations of navigation, my brother Sergei and his son Ilya died.”

His inflatable ship obviously was not supposed to go more than three kilometers – less than two miles – from the coast.
When the engine broke, it was 37 miles from the shore, it claims.
Pichugin survived the lack of food on board because it was overweight, they say at that time.
He added, “I lost my relatives, it’s hard for me.
“They also want to put me in jail.
“I understand that I have broken the law.
“I sailed too far from the shore.”
But Pichugin made it clear that his brother and nephew “died not because I went too far into the sea, but because of the combination of circumstances.”

Previously, it was revealed that Pichugin had covered two bodies and tied to the ship to prevent them from crossing.
While his vessel crossed at least 625 miles for 67 days, Pichugin lost 50 pounds, about half of his body weight.
He discovered that he survived only on the rain water he had collected, soaked dried peas and noodles fried by freezing.
Nevertheless, Pichugin’s situation was described as “satisfactory” when he arrived at the hospital at the time, which experts called her a double miracle.
“There are two real miracles here,” Dmitry Lisitsyn, chief Sakhalin Environment Watch, said in October.
“The first thing is that such a small, uncontrolled boat was not preoccupied in the stormy autumn sea of Okhotka after more than two months of departure.
“The other is that someone on this ship survived.”
Asked if there was a wishes, the whale observer said he was “release her from the hospital and coming home to bury my brother and nephew.”
