Allison Holker Boss Opens Up About a Time She 'Was Taken Advantage of’: ‘I Felt So Much Shame In Who I Was’

Allison Holker Boss opens for the first time about a traumatic time in her past.

“I wanted to ask you, you talk in your book at the age of 17, you experienced something you say was so traumatizing, that it touched every part of your life,” said Jamie Kern Lima’s host to his guest.

“I experienced my first time I really felt like I used to use,” Holker Boss explained.

She hinted that alleged abuse came from the “dance community”, seemingly feeling as if her “joy of life” and “the energy of a desire to constantly teach” put in a compromising position.

“I had some, some, you know, an older man really exploits the vulnerability through which women go through, especially in the dance community,” said Holker Boss. “Where we look at our teachers and we just trust them, and the dance can be very physically. It can be very sexually, even in young age.”

“It has separated me for many years,” said Holker Boss, thinking she was the one who was guilty.

“I felt like I was guilty because how could that come to that place? I must have done something wrong and I felt so shame on who I was,” Kern Lima said, 47.

“And I was so embarrassing. And to this day, it’s one of these things – man, if I had just spoken for myself, maybe I could install myself and help other young girls not to happen,” Holker Boss continued.

She admitted that her healing process lasted “so many years” before she no longer felt shame, adding, “And now I’m proud of herself.”

The contractor nominated Emmy that he did not hold on to himself in the past, explaining that becoming a mother had changed things for her.

“I blamed myself for years, for myself when I had my daughter, I realized that I had to build her that she liked if anything happened to her,” said the mother of three.

The dancer admitted that she had struggled with it if she wanted to involve her story in her memoir.

“Not because I didn’t want to be honest, it’s just emotional to put something like that,” she said.

“But then I realized that it was the beginning to become so independent and strong and realize that I would never allow anyone to take something more than me again.”
