With Big Brother returning in October, fans are looking back at some of the most explosive moments in reality show history – and perhaps none have been as talked about as the incident involving Roxanne Pallett and Ryan Thomas on Celebrity Big Brother 2018 – so what exactly happened and where is the actress now? Find out here…
In 2018 Roxanne, who is perhaps best known for her role as Jo Stiles in Emmerdale, joined CBB alongside Coronation Street actor Ryan. While asking Ryan if he should do his laundry while he cleaned up, Ryan playfully pretended to punch her, prompting her to complain about him in the diary room.

She later told her housemates that he repeatedly punched her in the ribs “like a boxer punches a bag: demonstrating to another contestant by punching him hard. After Ryan protested not touching her, Roxanne overheard this and told the other contestants that lied – she later said she was uncomfortable sleeping in the same room with him.
The Only Way is Essex star Dan Osborne asked Big Brother to clarify the situation, to which they replied: “Dan, it might be worth thinking about why Ryan hasn’t been removed from the house.” He then tried to ask Roxanne about the situation, saying, “What you’re accusing him of… is career-ending for him. It would destroy him. Do you honestly believe he would do that on purpose?” She replied, “I think he would be very stupid to do that in a house full of surveillance.”
Ryan was clearly deeply shaken by the situation, telling the other housemates that it would “break their hearts” if they were in his situation, adding: “I don’t know what she’s doing to me.” Weeping in the diary, he said: “I didn’t do anything, I didn’t do anything.” The situation has received more than 25,000 complaints to Ofcom.

After hearing the crowd chant “Get Roxie out” during the eviction, Roxanne voluntarily left the reality show. She later apologized in an interview with the show’s host, Emma Willis, where she said she had made a “terrible mistake”.
She said: “My mind has run away with me. I’m a sensitive person, my friends and family can vouch for that… In the house, everything gets heightened. Your insecurities are heightened. All I can say is I can explain the moment I felt worse than it was.”
Speaking about the incident a year later, Roxanne appeared on The Jeremy Vine Show, saying: “I chose to go on that show, I put myself out there and I made a mistake. I understand why everyone felt the way they did. When I rewatched it, I would feel same. I was on the wrong path, I was a person I don’t even like, so I don’t blame anyone for saying what they feel.”
Adam later said he forgave her for the situation, saying, “If she wants forgiveness and it makes her feel better, I’d rather give it to her, because I think she’s been punished enough by the public and the people around her.”
