‘RHONJ’ Has Paused Filming for 2 Housewives After an Alleged Physical Incident: Sources

The Real Housewives of New Jersey has hit the pause button on filming for two of its co-stars following an alleged physical incident.

Jennifer Aydin and Danielle Cabral have been temporarily suspended from filming the Bravo series pending an investigation into the two women, PEOPLE confirms.

The reality stars allegedly had an “argument” on set RHONJ at the home of costar Teresa Giudice on Thursday. “They’ve been fighting all season, but this feud has escalated in ways it hasn’t,” a source told PEOPLE.

The exchange began verbally and allegedly turned physical when Aydin, 46, pushed Cabral, 38, according to the source. Cabral in turn allegedly threw a drink at Aydin. The plastic cup hit Aydin in the face and the back of her earring “cut into the back of her head,” according to the source.

As a result of the alleged incident, Aydin and Cabral were suspended from filming for several days, though another source told PEOPLE that “no one knows how long that will last.”

“They didn’t shoot this weekend either, but they have scenes scheduled for this week,” says another source.

PEOPLE has reached out to representatives for Aydin and Cabral for comment.

RHONJ is currently filming its 14th season. Cabral debuted on the series last season, while Aydin has been on the Bravo series since Season 9 in 2018.

In addition to Cabral, Aydin and Giudice (a star of the series since its inception in 2009), the series also stars Melissa Gorga, Dolores Catania, Margaret Josephs and Rachel Fuda.

Jackie Goldschneider and Jennifer Fessler are expected to continue their roles in the Friends franchise, as they did in Season 13.

Filming for the new season began in August, PEOPLE previously confirmed. While there was initial speculation that the show would feature a cast change amid sisters-in-law Teresa and Melissa’s seemingly never-ending feud, PEOPLE confirmed in July that Bravo has made return offers to both women and the rest of their co-stars for season 13. Bravo has not yet announced a premiere date of 14. season.

While the recent drama seems to be centered around Cabral and Aydin, the focus of last season was very much on the splits in the Gorga/Giudice family.

Years of misunderstandings and business dealings between Teresa’s then-fiancée Luis “Louie” Ruelas and her brother Joe Gorga put a strain on their relationship, but things only got worse during the season when they tried to make amends. The season ended with Joe, 43, and Melissa, 44, deciding not to attend Teresa’s wedding after it was revealed that Teresa, 51, and Louie, 48, met with Joe behind Melissa’s back to tell Teresa’s brother about the rumors of cheating they heard involving Melissa (Melissa vehemently denied the “baseless” allegations).

From that moment on, the boundaries between Teresa and Melissa were drawn. The two traded insults on social media and on their podcasts. They were even split into separate panels at BravoCon back in October to help tone down the noise.

Things didn’t improve until the reunion. Recorded in April, the three-part album included plenty of name-calling. And although both Melissa and Joe offered hope that they could rekindle their relationship in the future, Teresa made it clear that she never plans to see them again.
