Poco Lee and Bella Shmurda
The management of the Lagos State University (LASU) has denied claims that dancer Poco Lee and musician Bella Shmurda were assaulted during the “Party with Poco Lee (Homecoming Concert)” held on the campus. Earlier reports stated that the cultists, known as ‘Ojo boys’, interrupted the concert and entered the campus with weapons.
In a statement signed by the coordinator of the Center for Information and Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, the management clarified that there was no physical attack by the cultist on artists or students. Bella Shmurda confirmed this on his social networks.
Management explained that while there had been minor altercations among patrons, reports of fights or cult clashes were false. The commotion near the end of the event was attributed to the students’ excitement at witnessing one of their own perform on campus, combined with crowd control challenges due to the poor logistics of the independent party organizers.
The LASU security team, with the support of other security agencies, quickly ended the show and dispersed the crowd due to overcrowding. The administration emphasized that there is no information on confirmed attacks by the cult.
LASU expressed regret for the distorted portrayal of the conflict and urged the public to beware of misinformation. They assured everyone that the safety of students and staff remains a top priority and reiterated their zero-tolerance stance on cultism.
