Season 2 of Only Murders In The Building is underway and fans are already sharing their theories as to who the killer is. Selena Gomez is one of three lead actors in the comedy series. Many of Selena’s fans have followed her throughout her career, with Wizards Of Waverly Place being a breakout role for the young actress.
Selena is not the only Wizards Of Waverly Place star to make it big in Hollywood since the show’s end. Her co-stars have also grown in their craft, built families, and found new passions.
Bill Chott – Mr. Laritate
Mr. Latinate is the principal of Tribeca Prep High School in New York. His relationship with the Russo family is complicated as he loves Justin’s work ethic but despises Alex’s troublesome attitude.
Bill Chott has been in several projects since his time as Mr. Laritate, mainly earning guest-star roles in popular shows such as Young Sheldon, Legion, and This Is Us. He also plays Dr. Volker in the horror thriller movie, Mid-Century. Chott’s Instagram is full of photos of food, his family, and travel destinations. He presents himself as a funny and wholesome guy who in addition to acting, teaches improv classes.
Gregg Sulkin – Mason Greyback
Mason is Alex’s werewolf boyfriend. He was introduced at the beginning of season 3 and became a series regular for the final season. His presence creates drama, exposes secrets, and pulls the show in a fun direction.
Gregg Sulkin has made it big in Hollywood, it may be easy to forget he starred in this Disney show. Some of his esteemed projects include Runaways and Faking It, which won the actor a teen choice award. He also earned roles in A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish and the recent Netflix series Pretty Smart. It was just announced that he would be joining season 2 of World On Fire, a popular BBC series.
Daniel Benson – Zeke Beakerman
Zeke is Justin’s best friend in Wizards Of Waverly Place and he eventually develops a romantic relationship with Harper. He tends to be goofy and over-dramatic.
Benson hasn’t done much since Wizard Of Waverly Place ended. His latest acting credit is on Killing Diaz, a 2018 film about a group of friends who develop a murder plot to kill an upstairs neighbor. He’s also guest-starred on a few episodes of Rick & Morty. Benson regularly posts pictures of himself on Instagram, proclaiming his passion for bodybuilding.
David DeLuise – Jerry Russo
Jerry Russo is the father of the wizard family and owner of the sub shop on Waverly Place. He was born a wizard but gave up his powers to be with Theresa. He teaches his children all about magic and the Wizard World.
David DeLuise portrayed Jerry on the show. Since the finale, he’s continued acting, earning guest-star roles in TV hits such as Shameless, NCIS, and This Is Us. His biggest acting contribution has been to the Pup Star movies, in which he plays Steven, the main character’s father who goes on a journey to find their lost pup. DeLuise loves dogs, as he posts pictures of his dog all the time on Instagram, along with photos of his wife and himself making funny faces.
Maria Canals-Barrera – Theresa Russo
Theresa Russo is the mother in The Wizards of Waverly Place. Unlike Jerry, she doesn’t come from a background in magic and she prefers to not be involved in its practice. Even so, she loves all of her children wholeheartedly.
Just like her other co-stars, Barrera has continued her acting career. She has guest-starred in Kenan, Fuller House, and more. Lately, she has been expressing her faith and joining Pure Flix for movies such as Sweet Inspirations and Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters which is inspired by the book of the same name and is set to come out in August.
Bridgit Mendler – Juliet Van Heusen
Juliet is Justin’s vampire girlfriend. Throughout The Wizards of Waverly Place, they share a love of culture, academics, and cheesy nicknames.
Bridgit Mendler is best known for her role on Good Luck Charlie, one of the best Disney Channel shows of all time. She became Teddy Duncan halfway through the series run of Wizards. After her departure from the Disney Channel, Mendler earned parts in Undateable and Netflix holiday series, Merry Happy Whatever. She appears to have taken a break from acting and her established singing career for a couple of years now. Her Twitter bio explains that she’s working toward a PhD at Harvard Law so it’s easy to assume she doesn’t have a lot of extra time on her hands.
Jennifer Stone – Harper Finkle
Harper Finkle is Alex’s best friend. She is very perky and creative, often wearing wild clothes of her own creation. In an episode of season 2, Harper learns about the Russo family’s magic. She keeps their secret and goes on several fun adventures with Alex.
Jennifer Stone plays Harper and it wasn’t her last acting job. Stone played Cassie Claus in Santa Girl and Mads Olsen in the award-winning Drama, The In-Between. She continues to act, but she has also found a passion for nursing. Stone documented her nursing school journey on Instagram and TikTok. She also loves sharing throwback photos and reminding her followers of the projects she’s been a part of and the actors she’s had the chance to work with.
Jake T. Austin – Max Russo
Max Russo is the youngest of Wizards of Waverly Place‘s Russo family. He tends to be clueless or confused, which can sometimes get the family into trouble.

Since portraying Max Russo, Jake T. Austin has grown as an actor. He played Jesus in the first two seasons of The Fosters and he had roles in The Valley and Adverse. His Instagram is full of selfies and throwback photos of projects he’s been a part of. He often partners with the Boys & Girls Club and other charitable organizations such as Make A Wish and My Friend’s Place. His next movie Black Friday is set to release later this year.
David Henrie – Justin Russo
Justin is the oldest Russo kid. He tends to be careful with magic and he cares deeply about school and rules.
David Henrie continues to act, earning roles in Walt Before Mickey and the upcoming biopic about Ronald Reagan’s life. Henrie has also found success in the director’s chair. He directed This Is The Year, starring several Disney and ABC stars. His next directorial project, Boys of Summer, is set to release this year with Mel Gibson and The Black Phone star Mason Thames at the helm. His personal life has also grown. As shown on his Instagram, he got married five years ago and has 2 children with another currently on the way.
Selena Gomez – Alex Russo
Alex Russo is the middle child of her family. She often gets into trouble when she uses her magic carelessly. Her snarky humor and her saving the world on several occasions make her one of the Disney Channel’s most iconic characters.
Fans couldn’t imagine anyone but Selena Gomez playing Alex Russo. Since bidding the character goodbye, Gomez has continued to offer her voice to Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania movies and release new music. She debuted her album “Rare” in 2020 and her E.P. “Revelación” in 2021. Most recently, Selena can be found recording podcasts and solving mysteries in Only Murders In The Building, one of the best streaming shows to return this Summer.
