The question of when Spotify stops tracking a person’s listening data has been disputed after an employee of the streamer said Newsweek 2021. that the gathering ends on October 31.

“The reason we have this harsh limit is just because of the logistics of the campaign,” Brendan Codey, assistant director of creator development and programs at Spotify, told the outlet.

“We have to check the quality of the page and we have to finish the materials for Wrapped, and all of that is taking time. Throw Thanksgiving into the mix, and we have even less time,” he added.

This would mean that all listening experiences in November and December would be excluded from the data, since the platform doesn’t start tracking Wrapped again until January.

However, Spotify refuted this claim in a 2023 post on Xu (formerly Twitter), writing: “Hmm, that doesn’t sound good to us. Don’t worry, Wrapped still counts after October 31st 👀.”
