Who was Robert Black?

Robert Black was a Scottish serial killer and convicted criminal known for committing appalling crimes. He was responsible for the abduction, harm, and murder of four young girls, aged between 5 and 11, during a series of gruesome acts that occurred in the United Kingdom between 1981 and 1986. In 1994, he was found guilty of the abduction, violence, and murder of three of these innocent victims, and also for taking a fourth girl against her will.

Before his conviction, he had been found guilty of kidnapping and causing harm to another victim. As a consequence of his actions, he received a life sentence, with a recommendation to serve a minimum of 35 years in prison. Additionally, Black was connected to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a nine-year-old girl in 1981, as well as being suspected in the disappearance and death of a 13-year-old girl in 1978.

His criminal activities possibly extended to other unsolved child homicides across Britain, Ireland, and continental Europe during the period from 1969 to 1987. The extensive nationwide search for Robert Black marked one of the most comprehensive murder investigations in the UK during the 20th century. Tragically, he passed away from a heart attack in HMP Maghaberry in 2016, when he was 68 years old.
