It’s always summer Island of love.

Series, formerly known as Island of celebrity love, started in the United Kingdom for two seasons in 2005 and 2006. The original concept of the series brought together a dozen celebrities themselves in Fiji, with the last couple eligible to win a cash prize. 2015 Island of love was revived for the ITV2 network, this time choosing members of the public rather than celebrities to join the show as contestants, widely referred to as islanders.

Throughout the season, couples are thrown curveballs left and right, including bombshells — new men and women entering the villa alone in hopes of breaking up the existing couple — as well as challenges that test their compatibility, public scrutiny and eliminations that leave the islanders vulnerable in more ways than one.

island of love which ran for 10 seasons in the UK, was brought to Australia in 2018 and ran for four seasons, with season five currently airing. In 2019, the series was brought to the United States, spawning five seasons of content for viewers. In 2023, the spinoff, Games on the island of love, debuted on the Peacock, bringing back fan favorites from all three international series.

UK version Island of love started an obsession for everyone, including celebrity superfans like Margot Robbie.

With six episodes a week for eight weeks, fans are given a real-time look at the new relationships or dramatic breakups that take place in the mansion.

Although there are new rules every season to keep the islanders’ competition fresh, the show begins with five couples hooking up. Over the course of eight weeks, they face challenges, both literal and figurative, as bombs enter the mansion and games are played to see who will prevail. At the end of the day, the couple voted first by the public wins the prize.

Over the years, Island of love has spawned several success stories, none more popular than the relationship between Molly Mae Hague and Tommy Fury in Season 5 of the show. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Bambi, in January 2023 and got engaged later that July.

Island of love airs on ITV2 in the UK and can be streamed locally on the ITV website. In the United States, the series is available for streaming on Hulu, although there is a delay in the episodes becoming available for viewing.

Australia caught on to the popularity of the British version of the series and launched its own in 2018.

The format closely follows the British version, with individual islanders isolated without access to their phones or the outside world as they try to get to know each other and form relationships.

Their love stories aren’t just up to them though – the public gets the chance to vote for their favorite (and sometimes least favorite) islanders and couples, which can often cause drama. Similar to the British couple, the couple voted first also receives a cash prize.

Island of love can be streamed via the live stream and video-on-demand service 9Now in Australia. The Australian version of the series is also available to stream on Hulu, although there is a delay in episodes becoming available to watch.

In 2019 Island of love reached the United States, although not to be confused with the existing vacation-style reality dating competition, Bachelor in Paradise.

Island of love originally aired for three seasons on CBS, until Peacock picked up the series for its fourth and fifth seasons.

Although the series follows the same format as its counterparts, the US and Australian versions have one thing in common — they are shortened seasons with only 22 to 38 episodes per season, instead of the typical 49 episodes seen in the UK version.

The first three seasons Island of love can be streamed on Netflix. Seasons four and five are available to stream on Peacock.

In 2023 spin-off Love island games debuted on the Peacock streaming service.

The show featured favorite contestants from across the franchise, including former Islanders from Australia, France, Germany, Sweden, the United States and the United Kingdom

Contestants get a second (or third) chance at love, this time in a different format. Love island games gathers the islanders in individual challenges for couples and in group challenges. For fans of the original series, it still has the twists and turns they know and love, including bombshell arrivals, reunions and eliminations.

New episodes Love island games air Sunday through Friday at 9:00 PM EST on Peacock, and are also available to watch on the streaming service after the broadcast.
