It is known that it happens in Vegas in Vegas. But what is happening at the White Lotus Hotel and Spa outside Bangkok-the third season of the brilliant HBO series director Mike White will be taught all the way to the United States.

This is not a radical processing of a formula established in Lotus’ Excellent season 1, but season 3 is much more attractive than season 2. These episodes took place on Sicily and felt like mere renewal. You worried that White may have been stuck and could not further dramatically push the concept of the show, as he did in his famous HBO series EnlightenedActs Laura Dern.
Lotus threatened to turn into Ground floor day with concierge service and heated floors in the bathroom.
This time, however, White is doing something that looks more like an endless, ingenious variation played on the topic: He is HBO -Little Mozart in The Pianoforte. It finds a stronger narrative form in the cultural division between the east and the west, and deftly exploits the lazy insulation of guests in the tropical paradise in which (as you know from the beginning) violence will inevitably impose. In addition to returning the manager of Spa Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), White also develops the thread of plot, quietly malicious and devilishly inspired, which connects a whole series of shows.
‘White lotus’ season 3: all to know
Best of all, he created two unforgettable characters who, at least six out of eight episodes scheduled for examination, Eclipse virtually everyone else: Rick (Walton Goggins), an angry, desperate man who can’t resist touching the messy emotional wound, and his Sweet, unreasonable but constant lover Chelsea (Live Aimee Lou Wood, which has some of the transparent weirdnesses of the late Shelley Duvall). These two have a riveted dynamic, romantic but unstable. They could be rejected in their series. But it would take away your other guests, a funny-send-shanobby killed party that are smart enough to appreciate that money not buy happiness. On the other hand, they could reason, this is not a reason for life like St. Francis, dressed in a dirty robe and preaching birds.
Parker Posey is especially good as a housewife, Violet Ratliff, who arrives with the cache of the caller – that soon breaks them up and swallows her husband Timothy (Jason Isaacs), a businessman who will be exposed to fraud. When their daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) admits that he wants to stay in Thailand and study in the Buddhist monastery, Violet is amazed. “You could finish the competition with a bunch of sister women,” sighed, “getting branding!”
What remains to see is whether the show will suggest it, somehowA week or approximately, an increasingly unpleasant spa can lead to enlightenment (see above, a reference on Laura Dern) – or, at least, escape for these guests from the hollow value of their life. (Lotus should have its solely spare therapist.) Is there a truly spiritual shrine in which any of them, including Piper, will be able to find a refuge from the storm? Can anything easier to paint that barely articulate – not to do it desire articulate? (Also: Does thinking about these lines your Do you want to join the monastery?)

Patrick Schwarzenegger brings Swagger to the new season White lotus – and beyond
The final withdrawal from the world seems beautiful enough in novels, of Princess Cleves to Revised Brideshead, But White’s trial humor – bitterly ironic, but also empathetic – usually does not offer the consolation of solutions. (Look at his stunning sharp 2017 movie, Beatriz at dinner, In the lead roles of Salma Hayek.) One guest of Lotus mocks the hotel as “Disneyland for rich boheme from Malibu in their pants Lululemon yoga.” But it’s a really ship of a fool, where the first class class is not much better than management.
Scramble for rescue boats will be ugly.White lotus Season 3 premiere on February 16th at 9pm on HBO.
