Dawn and Osaro Ighodaro, Oso Ighodaro’s parents, are educators. Dawn and Osaro have been working in and around Phoenix, Arizona for years. The 6’11 forward from Marquette University is inspired by his father, Osaro, a former professional athlete. His father also has a bachelor’s degree and his sister previously worked for Morgan Stanley.
As a result, the child comes from a prosperous household. And Oso did not let his family down on the field. Oso has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team every year since arriving at Marquette in 2020. Oso, considered one of the top players at his institution, is projected by Sports Illustrated to be a second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Oso was recently featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel with freshman Al Amadou, as a youth guide.

Dawn and Osaro Ighodaro, Osaro Ighodaro’s parents, have stayed out of the public eye. The couple did not give interviews to the media. Both Osaro Ighodaro and his wife Dawn Ighodaro are teachers. Osaro Ighodaro, Os’s father, graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1990 and 1992, respectively. Osaro also played college basketball at NAU and then professionally in Belgium. Later, Osaro continued his studies and earned a doctorate in political science at NAU.
After deciding basketball wasn’t for him, Osaro became the associate dean of student affairs at Scottsdale Community College. He worked in Scottsdale for two years before taking the same job at Glendale Community College. In 2012, Osaro was named vice president of student affairs at South Mountain Community College. He worked there for 11 years and just quit in June of this year. Dawn Ighodaro, Os’s mother, earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in health and physical education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania. Until 2021, Dawn worked as Director of Admissions and Marketing and then as After School Administrator at Summit School of Ahwatukee. Dawn worked at the Summit School of Ahwatukee for 23 years, during which time she worked as an education specialist in the Phoenix and surrounding areas.
Dawn now works in three different locations, fulfilling different responsibilities. She works as an operations consultant at Carlo Rockmore LLC, a development assistant at Espanola Humane, and a podcast coordinator at House of Shine. Dawn, unlike her husband, is active on social media, but rarely posts things on her Facebook page. Her latest post shows Oso hoisting the Big East Championship trophy, which the team won in March.

Oso Ighodaro is not the only child of his parents; he has an older sister named Osaso Ighodaro. Unlike his brother, Osaso was not affected by his father’s success as a basketball player and took a different path. Osaso earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. Osaso graduated with honors in 2021, with a degree in finance and economics.
Osaso was an honors student at Eller, a member of Pi Beta Phi and a member of the Investments Club. A Facebook post posted by Eller in 2018 also stated that Osaso wanted a minor in Spanish and a degree in sports marketing or global business. Osaso held two jobs at Eller, as a front desk assistant for the Dean’s Office in the Faculty of Humanities and as a campus manager for undergraduate students. After graduation, Osaso worked at Morgan Stanley in the Global Industrials Group as an investment banking analyst. She is currently employed at AEA Investors, a middle market private equity firm based in the United States.
