Who Is Adam Driver’s Wife? All About Joanne Tucker

Adam Driver and his wife Joanne Tucker will soon become parents of two children.

The student lovers are currently expecting their second child together. Tucker seemingly confirmed the news after she was spotted in New York with Driver in February 2023 with a growing baby bump.

The couple met while attending Julliard and married in 2013. In the years since, they’ve had a son, kept out of the spotlight, and co-founded Arts in the Armed Forces — a charity Tucker and Driver launched in 2006 to bring to the U.S. military community artistic experiences. They also shared the screen together in 2019 Report.

Despite Driver’s status as an A-lister, and Tucker also having a career as an actress, the couple are very private and rarely speak publicly about their relationship or family life.

“My job is to be a spy – to be in public and live life and have experiences. But when you feel like you’re in the spotlight, it’s really hard to do that,” he told The New Yorker in 2019

She is an actress

Driver is not the only actor in the family. Tucker has had several minor roles in various TV shows and movies over the years. She starred in the 2020 film Take it or leavethe Showtime series American rust and with her husband in 2019 Report. She even appeared on the HBO show that made the driver famous Girls.

“I like to put myself in other people’s shoes and imagine their lives from different perspectives,” she said about her craft in an interview with Royal Gazette.

She is a former dancer

Tucker also performed on stage as a ballerina in her youth. Her dancing career ended after she was rushed to the hospital due to an illness during a tour Nutcracker. “I had a ‘come to Jesus’ moment,” she said Royal Gazette. “I remember thinking after that I’m going to do acting because life is fragile.”

She was born in Bermuda

Although Tucker’s family moved to Brooklyn, New York early on, she was actually born in Bermuda and is the granddaughter of Sir Henry Tucker, the territory’s first head of government. She talked about her roots Royal Gazettesaying, “I spent my summers running around on the beach. It was a colorful sensory important part of my upbringing.”

Bermuda was also the site of her and Driver’s wedding in 2013. “It’s one of those places that pulls you back,” she said. “I got married there. I just love the people and the place.”

She and Adam met at Juilliard

Tucker was one of the few students accepted into Juilliard’s drama program, graduating in 2009. In fact, that’s where she met Driver. “She read a lot of books, knew a lot of sh—,” said the former Marine The New Yorker. – She was very composed.

Juilliard teacher Richard Feldman, who officiated their 2013 wedding, said The New Yorker“She takes no nonsense.”

She and Driver have a son and are expecting their second child

The well-known private couple has a child together, although they managed to keep him out of the spotlight for several years. After offering some advice, Driver finally addressed his father’s status in his opening monologue during his Saturday night live hosting in 2020, telling the crowd: “I’m a husband. And a father. It’s in that order though. I’ve been very clear with my son about that, he’s second in everything.”

She and Driver founded a charity together

Together, Driver and Tucker co-founded Arts in the Armed Forces, a nonprofit organization that provides free arts programs to those in the military.

“We developed a format together based on our Juilliard audition process, which is that you learn four monologues and you’re asked to say two to four of them in the audition,” Tucker said Diversity 2021. “For the military, it was exposure to a new way of communicating, and for the arts community, understanding that the military is not just ‘Apocalypse Now’ and ‘MASH.'”

She is an avid runner

While preparing for the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon, Tucker revealed that she has been running her entire adult life. “It’s my favorite way to explore and navigate a new place and I’m passionate about it because it requires your whole body to participate,” she said in a quote on AITAF’s Instagram page. “You can do it anywhere at no cost, and it gives us dedicated time and space to think and reflect.”

That year, she ran the marathon for the AITAF team “to bring attention to the arts in the armed forces mission and to celebrate co-leading an arts nonprofit for the past 11 years.” Although it was her first marathon, she said, “In a way, starting and growing AITAF was a special kind of marathon, similar to what I imagine serving in the military might be like.”

She regularly appears alongside Driver at red carpet events

Tucker has accompanied Driver to everything from the Oscars to the Golden Globes. She also supports her husband at almost all his film premieres and screenings.

In 2021, the couple was photographed on the red carpet at the premiere of the film in New York House of Gucci, in which Driver plays Maurizio Gucci. Then in October 2023, Tucker and Driver attended a screening of the actor’s film Ferrari at the New York Film Festival.

She helped Driver adjust to life after the Marines

After spending just over two years in the Marine Corps, Driver was medically discharged due to a motorcycle injury, and began attending Julliard. During the first semester, he had problems adjusting to the new environment.

“I made three people cry in my first semester,” he told Broadway.com in 2009. “I was used to a very aggressive way of talking to people. I would consider it an argument, but I guess others didn’t see it that way!”

Luckily, he met and started dating Tucker, who he credits with helping him adjust to life in New York

“She taught me what gouda cheese is. And that you shouldn’t talk with your mouth full and spit on the pavement,” he joked.
