Andrew Left was born on July 9, 1970 in a suburb of Detroit in a Jewish family. They eventually moved with his family to Coral Springs, Florida. He dropped out of Coral Springs High School, where he was a member of the debate team and president of the school’s Jewish youth group. In 1993, he transferred to North-Eastern University.

Andrew began his career with Universal Commodity Corp, a high-pressure supply brokerage that used salespeople to close deals and encourage “questionable investments.” Left the company in March 1994 after nine months of work.
