Who Is Brett Young’s Wife? All About Taylor Mills Young

Brett Young and Taylor Mills Young have a modern love story: The couple started dating in the early days of social media, years before the “Mercy” singer made it big in the country world.

“It was in the early years on Facebook and I saw a picture on her roommate’s page with her,” Brett told PEOPLE in 2018. “I was finally able to get the group together and it was pretty platonic.”

Four months later, they reconnected and began dating, but by then the aspiring artist had moved to California while studying at Arizona State University. Brett and Taylor were long-distance until she graduated and moved with him to Santa Monica, California, though they went their separate ways after six years together.

During this time, Brett moved to Nashville to write and record his first album. “It was one of those things where we had to be apart to grow up before we could be together again,” he said.

After two years apart, the couple reunited and got engaged and married in 2018. Brett and Taylor then welcomed two daughters, Presley Elizabeth in 2019 and Rowan Marie in 2021. Looking back on their relationship, Brett said their commitment is stronger than ever .

“Being able to be best friends with the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with is the most important thing. She has a very pure, good heart,” he added.

She’s from Seattle

Taylor grew up in the Seattle, Washington area. In September 2019, she shared on Instagram that she and Brett attended a Seattle Mariners game together, where he threw out the first pitch.

“I feel like baseball [specifically Dodgers] is the only thing on TV these days in the Young household… so here’s a family pic after B threw out the first pitch at the Mariners game ⚾️ #hometownlove,” she captioned a photo of her and Brett with their parents.

She attended Arizona State University

Brett met Taylor while she was a student at Arizona State University in Scottsdale, Arizona. She studied interior design and design management, according to her LinkedIn. As a student, she was also a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Taylor graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree.

After that, she worked as a manager at Los Angeles Nordstrom for five years. Taylor went on to work as a consultant for fashion company TheRunthrough before ending up at interior design app Hutch, where she worked until 2017.

She married Brett in 2018

The couple broke up when Brett moved to Nashville to pursue his music career, but the country singer didn’t lose hope. Two years after their split, he texted Taylor. “I didn’t have his phone number. When you [texted me]it took my breath away,” she told PEOPLE in 2018.

Brett added, “All the good stuff was still there, but all the bad stuff that was born of immaturity was gone. It was plain and obvious.”

The “Dance With You” singer and Taylor made their red carpet debut at the CMA Awards in November 2017. He proposed with a custom ring he helped design in February 2018 in Oxford, Mississippi, near the University of Mississippi, where he went to school.

“There was never any bad blood; it was just the wrong time for us,” he told PEOPLE at the time of the engagement. “We recently got back in touch and realized that we’re both finally in the same place and we know it’s right.”

On November 3, 2018, the couple had a wedding ceremony in Palm Desert, California, in front of 200 guests. Taylor later revealed on Instagram that they were legally married on August 10, 2018 at the Rhinestone Wedding Chapel on Music Row in Nashville.

She and Brett have two daughters

Brett and Taylor are parents to two children: daughter Presley, born October 21, 2019, and Rowan, born July 21, 2021.

“Presley has gotten to the point right now where when she plays with dolls, she mimics how my wife is with her,” Brett told PEOPLE in 2021. “It’s good, because she’s just a natural learner. She’s so sweet with the other kids and loves babies.”

It proved to be a great skill when Rowan arrived less than two years later, as Brett and Taylor wanted their children to be close to each other.

“We really wanted them to be close enough in age that they could have a lot in common and be best friends,” he told PEOPLE when they broke the news of Taylor’s second pregnancy.

Brett continued: “Tay had a sister a similar age growing up, so we both really wanted Presley to have the same. Tay is so close to her sister, and that’s something we always knew we wanted for Presley. We feel very blessed ones!”

He has a sister

Taylor has a younger sister, Hayden Mills, who is engaged and has a son, Liam.

In July 2022, Hayden shared photos of herself and her son and Taylor and her daughters in Nashville on Instagram. “Liam and his favorite ladies,” she captioned the photos.

It inspired Brett’s first album

In 2018, Brett revealed to PEOPLE that the couple’s two-year breakup inspired him to write heartfelt songs for his self-titled debut album, Brett Young.

According to the ACM Awards winner, the songs serve as “a reminder that we’ve been through it and come out the other side. We’re better for it. She’s a really good muse!”

Taylor also said that the first time she heard the album, she had an emotional reaction to recognizing his voice.

“I was driving to work. I didn’t even look at the radio to see Brett Young and his name,” she told PEOPLE. “Immediately I heard his voice and I pulled over to the side of the road and I felt like I was hyperventilating.

Taylor added: “It was very difficult because it brought up a lot of emotions, but I was also so proud of him.”

She starred in one of Brett’s music videos

Taylor starred as Brett in the music video for his song “You Didn’t”, which debuted in March 2022. Brett also shared a teaser of the video shoot on Instagram a month before its release.

“10/10 recommend shooting a music video with your wife,” he wrote in the caption.
