William “Dynamite” Douglas and Lula Pearl have a son named James “Buster” Douglas. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 7, 1960. He grew up in Columbus’ Windsor Terrace neighborhood.

He attended Linden McKinley High School and played basketball and football. Following that, he played basketball for the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens in Coffeyville, Kansas. He also attended Sinclair Community College. Douglas later received a basketball scholarship to Mercyhurst University.

Buster Douglas married Bertha M. Paige in 1987. They have three sons whose names are Arthur, Kevin, and Cardae. He also has a son named Lamar with his high school girlfriend.

He was given the moniker “Desert Fox.” In 1977, he won the Class AAA state basketball championship. He once weighed around 400 pounds and had a coma. Duane Davis portrayed him in the television film ‘Tyson’ in 1995.

Douglas lost his first match against David Bey in November 1981, after five consecutive victories. A month later, he defeated Don Johnson. He boxed against Norway’s Steffen Tangstad in October 1982. It resulted in his first career draw.
