Hollins and Lloyd went to Delran High School in New Jersey where they began their relationship.

One of Hollins’ favorite stories from his teenage years was when his family brought Lloyd camping during his senior year of high school. After she went swimming, Lloyd wanted to try the 350-meter run, like the rest of his family did. Because her hands were slippery, the driver flew away.

“She just launches it — it sinks to the bottom of the lake and we never find it again,” Hollins recalled Sports Illustrated 2015. “She was humiliated. Which I thought was pretty funny. But that’s typical Carli. She always thinks she can do it. She is so determined.”

After graduating from high school, Hollins joined the Golf Academy of the South in Altamonte Springs, Florida. He was then the assistant golf professional at Trenton Country Club in New Jersey. In 2015, he tried to qualify for the US Open.

Since they are both athletes, things can get competitive. In 2015, Hollins admitted Sports Illustrated that his wife is “by far the most competitive person I know.”

“He laughs because he says I always go harder against him. And I say: ‘No, you are always harsher against me.’ Lloyd added. “It’s getting hot, we’re going to lay each other down. You know, it’s fun, we can banter, we can be out of a relationship and fight.”
