They hit it off and in 1996 they formed Roc-A-Fella Records with silent partner Kareem “Biggs” Burke. Dash was the business partner of Jay-manager Za, and is also the co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records. With Jay Za’s debut album, Reasonable Doubt, the combination of Dash and Jay-Z was well on its way to becoming a household name.
But in only two cases did their love end abruptly. The first incident occurred when Def Jam Recordings acquired Roc-A-Fella Records in 2004 and Jay-Z agreed to take over as president of the label. Another issue was about Jay-Z buying Dash’s stake in Rocawear from him. It was later claimed that Dame Dash was also involved in blind borrowing in April 2014.
