Who Is Daniel N. Durant From “Dancing With The Stars”?

This year’s CODA Best Film winner, actor Daniel Durant is all set to star in Dancing with the Stars, making him the third deaf contestant on the show. The actor will team up with professional dancer DWTS Britt Stewart. Daniel grew up in Minnesota after being born in Michigan. In 8th grade, the actor transferred to the Minnesota School for the Deaf after attending regular schools. He earned his associate’s degree in 2011 from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, after graduating from MSAD in 2008. The actor moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to participated in a production of the Deaf West Theater and later as a guest actor at Oakland University with the Terp Theatre. Since then, Daniel has starred in numerous Broadway shows including Police: Deaf: Near: Far as Stinger and Spring Awakening as Moritz in the critically acclaimed Deaf West.

Off Broadway, Daniel also played Mathew in ABC’s Switched at Birth, the 2020 short Silent Notes and Netflix’s You. The DWTS contestant has won numerous awards, including the 2016 Theater Award for Outstanding Debut Performance on Broadway and the Huffington Post’s Top 10 Best Theatrical Performance. The actor will appear on the DWTS stage. In an interview on Good Morning America, the host asked Daniel if the Oscars ceremony or the ballroom was scarier.

Daniel noted that attending the Oscars was a great experience, citing “the red carpet and the stage.”
