Recently, the World Health Organization (WHO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Vanessa Kerry, physician and global health expert, as the first Director-General, Special Envoy for Climate Change and Health Strong. The World Health Organization (WHO) believes that this expert will play an important role in reinforcing WHO’s messages on climate and health, as well as carrying out high-level advocacy.
On this occasion, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of WHO made a statement expressing his joy. “We are delighted that Dr. Vanessa Kerry is joining WHO as our Special Envoy on Climate Change and Health. Her extensive experience and commitment to public health makes her become invaluable in addressing the health consequences of climate change. The doctor is also working with public sector partners in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zambia, through Seed Global Health. She also supports public policy and education at the MGH Center for Global Health.
