Fiona Apple was born on September 13, 1977 in New York, New York to famous actor Brandon Maggart and singer Diane McAfee. She was raised by her father and his parents. She studied piano and made her debut at the age of seventeen with the album “Tidal”. Her first step was successful as she received a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocalist.
Apple’s life was not without incident; at the age of 12 she was raped in front of her apartment. That incident proved to be a major setback as she developed an eating disorder as a result, deliberately emaciating her body to make herself look unattractive. She also started experiencing panic attacks. Because of all this, she rushed to Los Angeles, to her father’s house.
