Who Is Gordon Ramsay’s Wife? All About Tana Ramsay

Gordon Ramsay has a long-standing reputation for being tough in the kitchen on shows like Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef and Kitchen nightmares. However, he has a soft spot for his wife Tana Ramsay.

The couple first met in the early 90s at a party, although Tana was dating someone else at the time. They got close again a few years later and got married in 1996.

“Gordon just loves cheering people on. He absolutely loves it,” Tana said The Telegraph in 2016 of her husband. – You have to understand him to know what he is like, and I absolutely understand him.

When it comes to their family, Tana admitted that she is a strict parent in the Ramsay household, which includes their six children – Megan, twins Jack and Holly, Matilda, Oscar and baby Jesse. Tana said Daily mail in 2006 that she wants her brood to be “independent,” while her husband wants them to “have that hunger in life.”

“I’m incredibly hard on them,” she said. “I think Gordon’s mum thinks I can be too strict. I’m stricter with my kids than a lot of people, but I have to be.”

She was engaged to someone else when she first met Gordon

According to a 2008 profile story Guard, Tana was in her early 20s when she first met Gordon at a New Year’s Eve party. At the time, she was engaged to someone else and had no interest in the aspiring chef, whom she described as “a complete cocky ass”.

However, when the two met again at the apartment Tana shared with a mutual friend – Gordon was storing his motorcycle there and stopped by to pick it up – they hooked up and started dating.

She married Gordon in 1996

The couple got married on December 21, 1996.

In August 2021, almost 25 years later, Tana wore her wedding dress again and shared a video of herself twirling on Instagram. She received several positive comments — including one from her husband, who commented “Omfg” and a fire emoji.

Tana and Gordon celebrated 27 years of marriage in 2023. The famous chef marked their anniversary by sharing a memory from their wedding day on Instagram. In the title, he called Tana “a wonderful woman, wife, mother.”

She and Gordon have six children

Tana and Gordon have six children together.

Their first daughter, Megan, was born in 1998. She was followed by twins Holly and Jack in 2000, daughter Matilda “Tilly” in 2001, son Oscar in 2019 and son Jesse in 2023. Before welcoming Oscar and Jesse, Tana experienced a spontaneous abortion in 2016.

Gordon teased the possibility of their brood expanding in January 2023 during an appearance on Breakfast in the heart. When co-host Jamie Theakston asked him how many children he had, he cheekily replied: “Last time I looked, there were five… There could be another one on the way.”

The surprise arrival of Jesse James Ramsay was announced on Instagram.

“Another package of love to the Ramsay brigade!! 3 boys, 3 girls… Done,” the celebrity chef wrote alongside photos of the newborn. In a separate post, Tana added: “It’s been a nerve-wracking 9 months but we made it and were blessed with this little bundle. The Ramsay family is definitely complete.”

She is a cookbook author and former teacher

Both Tana and Gordon share an interest in food. She published her first cookbook, Tana Ramsay’s Family Kitchen, 2006, followed by five additional titles, incl Tana’s kitchen secrets in 2010 and I like to bake in 2011

Although Tana’s cooking was preferred in the Ramsay household, she admitted Toronto CityNews in November 2008 that she is not as fast in the kitchen as her chef husband.

“I never trained to be a chef. It takes me forever to chop an onion or a carrot compared to [Gordon]but it’s my way of real family food,” she told the outlet. “Our meals are completely different, and he wants home cooking when he’s at home.”

Of cooking for her family, she added, “I remember going home and having a home-cooked meal on the table — just the comfort I had as a kid and the security it makes you feel. That’s what I want to do for my family.”

Tana is a former Montessori teacher and former editor of food for Grace magazine, according to her author biography for HarperCollins Publishers.

She is close friends with Victoria Beckham

In addition to relying on her husband, Tana developed a friendship with Victoria Beckham over the years. The Ramsays and the Beckhams are actually close family friends, which Gordon says Sun in 2017, according to HuffPost, “Over the past 10 years, we’ve progressed naturally. I can see how hard it is for David [Beckham] and Victoria do.”

He added: “But the relationship is our ambition to see all eight children through school, college, university and then, when the children are in their 20s, dust ourselves off as decent parents. It’s hard. We feed each other.”

Tana shared a series of photos on Instagram in honor of Victoria’s 48th birthday in April 2022, captioning the carousel: “Happy happy birthday to my very special friend – so many memories and more to come x you are amazing and I am so grateful for our friendship x I love you so much xxx @victoriabeckham.”

She had a salon in London

In 2011, Tana opened the All About the Girl salon in London’s Wandsworth district, which offered various beauty treatments such as tanning, massages, manicures and eyelash extensions.

Following the launch, Tana spoke to StyleNest in 2012 about what inspired her new venture.

“I felt there was a gap in the local market for a place that offered ‘everything under one roof,'” she said. “Customers can get anything from a relaxing hour and a half massage to a quick eyebrow tint or blow dry. I wanted to offer a whole range of treatments that fit into busy lives – from a wonderful indulgent massage to a quick hair removal, it’s all for the girl!”

After 12 years of owning and operating All About the Girl, Tana transferred ownership to Townhouse and its founder Juanita Huber-Millet.

She spoke about her fertility issues

After the couple suffered a pregnancy loss in 2016, son Oscar arrived in 2019. Tana and Gordon have since discussed welcoming another child into their lives, saying Daily mail in 2021 they were “thinking” about more children.

Despite the devastating loss, Tana spoke openly about her experience in the hope of helping others in “incredibly difficult” situations. Speaking to a UK outlet Metroshe also recalled how her husband was “amazing” in difficult times.

“He was always the one to talk about everything, and he was very good at kind of talking it out of me and never made me feel like, ‘Oh, you know, maybe we shouldn’t talk about it,'” Tana said .

She also admitted that “it’s very difficult for her when people talk to me and don’t mention it because it’s like it didn’t happen.”

“All I wanted to do was talk about it with my friends, with my family, with anyone who asked me about it because it was incredibly difficult,” Tana added. “You go from a baby kicking inside you to suddenly it’s gone, and that was a really hard experience.”

In June 2023, Tana spoke again about her miscarriage, sharing an emotional post on Instagram and revealing that their child was named Rocky.

“Happy pic of us celebrating Meghan’s 18th I was just under 20 weeks pregnant,” she captioned the family photo. “Little did we know that a few days later I would be holding our little boy Rocky – born with a strong heartbeat but too small to survive.”

“We all miss you every day. We love you Rocky, forever in our hearts,” she added.

She inspired Gordon for the 50-lb. weight loss

When Tana gave her husband an ultimatum to start taking care of himself or risk their relationship, he got in shape and lost over 50 pounds. in process.

He still gets “butterflies” when he sees Gordon

Gordon and Tana are still very much in love. The mom of six told PEOPLE that she still has “butterflies” after not seeing her husband for several weeks.

“I never want to take it for granted — even with all these kids to take care of. We have a lot of fun,” she said, adding that Gordon “likes to be on the phone about 25 times a day” when he’s away on set.
