Love Maria Payawal Ongpauco was born in Manila, Philippines. Her birthday is February 14, 1985. Reynaldo Evangelista Ongpauco and Maria Cecilia del Gallego Payawal are her parents. Srce is the last born child in a family consisting of four sisters and one brother. The family lived in the Philippines at the time of her birth, but later moved to the United States, only to return to the Philippines during her adolescence.

Heart won several awards as a solo artist during this period, which helped shape her career.
