He played many Mozart concertos with the city orchestra before being invited to join the Miles Davis Quintet, which defined the post-bop sound of jazz. He then experimented with genres such as jazz fusion, electro, classical and jazz-funk styles. He received several awards for his performances. Concrete Cowboys, his first film, was released in 1981. Takin’ Off was his debut studio album (1962).

Herbie Hancock was born in Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It was named after Herb Jeffries, a singer and actor. He graduated from Hyde Park High School. Herbie never studied jazz or had a teacher, but he grew up listening to that kind of music, and as a child prodigy he had a sense of harmony. He studied by listening to the Hi-records vocal band.
