Jay interviewed his wife in the first episode of his podcast, Deliberately. Talking about how they met, the couple shared that they were actually introduced by Radha’s mother. Jay, who was a monk at the time, was asked to show Radha’s mother how a certain service was performed in the temple. The couple met and occasionally communicated through the temple, but Radhi ended up spending much more time with Amy, who was also involved in the temple’s programming. Radhi often heard Jay speak to groups and said she was “in awe” of him and admired how he could “articulate such profound wisdom in a way that was so relevant to people who were so young.”
After Jay left the monastery, his sister shared with him that Radhi was interested in him, and they started dating soon after.
“I’ve seen her interact with other people… I’ve seen her personality, I’ve seen her talk to other people and based on all those things I thought she was a great person. So when my sister told me that [Devlukia-Shetty was interested in me]I was secretly pretty happy,” Jay said.
