Jim Ross, the famous commentator, was born on January 3, 1952 in Fort Bragg, California. His mother and father are unknown, but his paternal grandparents are said to have owned a beer store and his maternal grandparents a general store in Westville.
Jim Ross went to Westville High School and was selected for the baseball team, where he played first base. Jim Ross was a big sports fan when he was younger (football). However, while in college, he did a bit of commentary on college radio, where he probably entered the field unwittingly.

Jim Ross’ first professional position as a commentator came by accident, as an announcer in the NWA Tri-State territory did not show up. He later became a referee for WWE and remained so until 1977. Over time, he received smaller but consistent promotions.
