Jodi Arias is an American citizen who was found guilty of murdering her thirty-year-old ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander. Jodi and her boyfriend Alexander moved to Mesa, Arizona in 2006 and dated for a while before splitting up and moving back to California. Even after the breakup, the two stayed in touch and had sex. She killed Alexander at his Mesa home in June 2008, which she later explained as self-defense and pleaded not guilty. After five days, Alexander’s friends discovered his body in the shower of his home. He was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head and multiple stab wounds.

In July 2008, Jodi was arrested on suspicion of shooting and stabbing Alexander. In April 2015, she was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in state prison without the possibility of parole after a four-month trial that began in December 2012.

They ended their relationship in June of that year, but continued to have regular sex. Alexander was later accused of physically and sexually abusing her.
She similarly killed Alexander on June 4, 2008. Much forensic evidence was collected from the scene of the murder, pointing to Jodi’s possible involvement in the murder. On April 13, 2015, she was sentenced to life in state prison without the possibility of parole. She is currently in maximum security at the Arizona State Penitentiary Complex – Perryville as a Level 5 high-risk inmate.
