When she finally got there, she admitted that she was harsh with Freundlich, but he was “so patient” with her and convinced her that she should play the part.

“I asked him: ‘Why do you see me in this character?’ Moore said. “And he said, ‘Because you look like you’re two different people when your face is completely calm and you’re smiling. You have the duality of your physicality.’ And I said: ‘Oh! Okay, okay!’ ”

While Freundlich was convinced the meeting had gone badly, Moore left thinking, “I’m going to make a movie of that kid,” she said.

In 2019, Moore opened up to PEOPLE about how she and Freundlich put time and energy into their marriage to keep it healthy.

“In our culture, we have this narrative that if you want a career, you have to work hard, go to school, look for a job, you have to apply, but love should just happen to you,” said the Oscar winner. “One day you’ll meet someone and get hit on the head and boom! This happens in romantic comedies, but in real life you have to find time. When you find a person, you have to invest in them and that relationship. And that’s love.”
