Ke Huy has been vocal about his gratitude to The Daniels for allowing him to return to the big screen, in a film that has been a success for him and his family.

Everything everywhere and at once won big during awards season, with Ke Huy Quan winning awards for his portrayal of Waymond Wang, including a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Because of this, Ke Huy had to make many speeches, and he never forgot to thank his wife.

In his speech at the Golden Globe Awards, he said: “I want to thank the most important person in my life. The only person who never stopped believing in me. My wife Echo. I love you with all my heart.”

He had similar sentiments in his Oscars speech.

“I owe everything to the love of my life, my wife, Echo, who told me month after month, year after year for 20 years that one day my time would come,” he said, speaking of his long-delayed return to the screen.

“Dreams are something you have to believe in. I almost gave up on mine. To all of you, please keep your dreams alive,” he added.

Ke Huy elaborated on his wife’s support in an interview with Diversity, saying, “Sometimes I was frustrated with her. I told her, ‘You keep saying that and it’s never going to happen’. I didn’t believe it. Twenty years is not little.”

In an interview on Sirius XM’s The Jess Cagle Show, Ke Huy’s co-star Jamie Lee Curtis credited Echo as the first person to know the film was going to be a big deal.

Ke Huy’s on-screen wife Michelle Yeoh also had nice things to say about Echo, as well as Ke Huy, in an interview with PEOPLE.
